Evernight, is at heart, a love story. But as we know, love shows itself in many forms. And there are many ways to tell a beautiful story. On this, the concept album, a man recalls an old tale his mother would tell him and how she would sing all the characters, play acting every moment. This is expressed through the first narrative, THERE WAS AN OLD TALE. EVERNIGHT introduces a dark world, cursed by the Fairy Queen, Muiraid, and in TWO LOVERS, we meet Jayden & Bryony. Through ONE VOW, they declare their love for each other, but are interrupted by Muiraid riding down from the clouds on her moonlit dragon. In THE SUFFERING STORM, Muiraid tricks Bryony into trading her lover for a dragon scale & talon. And just as soon as she appeared, Jayden & the Fairy Queen were gone. Bryony sings MORTALS FROM THE GODS, in which she reflects on the heroines of legends & how she does not feel she’s one of them. Yet she begins her impossible journey to rescue the man she loves. In THE MEETING OF MASTER SHO & MASTER SHO, through the darkness of the forest a little fox appears. He offers to accompany Bryony & help her rescue her love. Meanwhile, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD, a melancholy Jayden sits in the Fairy Queen’s castle & ponders his fate, as Muiraid plants THE SEED OF DOUBT in his head. Back in the forest, Bryony & Master Sho have THE MEETING OF THE RIVER PIRATES. And in THE RIVER PIRATE SHANTY, we are introduced to these brazen but lovable scoundrels of the river. They are intrigued by Bryony’s story, & through some PIRATE TALK, they decide to take on the task of sailing her the rest of the way there-with the hope of obtaining enough booty to buy their own ship. They reach the castle, & engage in THE BATTLE, in which one of them is mortally wounded, & Bryony discovers that Jayden doubts their love. They sit in the dungeon, and Bryony begs her love to find his way back to her in PLEASE BELIEVE. MASTER SHO’S FINAL GIFT allows Jayden to hear her song, & in THREE LOVES he takes the talon & kills Muiraid, returning the sun to the sky. The EPILOGUE sees Jayden & Bryony where they were at the beginning, in the midst of a wedding ceremony. Despite all odds, some heroes come from the most unlikely places.
